my story

fun . funky . fresh . functional

i’m a longtime sewist/seamstress. my journey at the machine began around 20 years ago as a young mom to a baby girl who found herself shopping on eBay for cute baby accessories. when someone gifted me a set of embellished burp cloths at a shower, it occurred to me I could probably sew a straight stitch and could make my own. it made sense to me. growing up, i sat at dining room tables and watched my grandmother and mom sew me dresses. it’s one of my most treasured memories. in my early years i focused on sewing burp cloths, diaper bags, changing pads and shopping cart covers. i sewed my first garment 16 years ago for my daughter’s Dorothy Halloween costume. lately i’ve been sewing home projects, getting my daughter ready for college, machine embroidering burp cloths, blankets & collaborating with pageant moms. over the years i added eclectic home décor, personalized items, and since 2011, everything for the pageant girl - or the girl who loves bling. i do not regret taking a shot at sewing. i love how i’ve been able to sew burp cloths for college friends for their new babies. once upon a time i had a registry connected to my website so i was often one of the first people to know the sex/name of their new baby. it was so exciting. i’m just as excited today, even as my shop has evolved.

my grandmother Inez is my inspiration. she would give me tiny glass bottles of coca-cola to drink while i sat at her dining room table to watch her sew. she would roll her eyes as i giggled when she measured my waist for a new dress, and say, “oh Chelle.” even though i didn’t always love the fabrics she sewed me dresses from, i did love the time i got to spend with her. i have memories of my own son with his door open, on the floor, listening to the hum of my machine. he said it was perfect to sleep to.

so, i’m michelle. i am a wife, a stay-at-home-mom to three great kids, a community advocate and an avid volunteer who is a mistake maker and who loves Jesus. due to a cross country move, i'm a recovering fabric hoarder who loves to sew (and sell) my stash. sewing has been a wonderful creative outlet for me. i can’t wait to create something special for you.
